Another great episode! Is there a good recent book to read on Copan? I found Fash’s book from 1991, but it is a somewhat odd mix of general information on the Maya and details from his own research. Also rather out of date, obviously, though it is interesting to try to correlate what archaeologists made of the available evidence then with (my limited knowledge of) what’s been learned since.

Off topic: I ran into a reference to an interesting-sounding book you were involved with, PALENQUE AS NEVER SEEN BEFORE. An early attempt at virtual reality? Made me wonder whether technological change might be a good focus for a future episode–both new methods of exploration and research, like Lidar, and new methods of dissemination, like your Tulum app?

      Hi Larry,
I love the Copan section of Chronicle of Maya Kings and Queens by Martin and Grube. Check that, and its bibliography for more current info.

Yes, I wrote most of that book, but it was Mayo Moller’s baby. A general podcast on technology changes is a great idea! I’ll write it down and consider it for next season. Thanks! Ed
